During the COVID-19 pandemic organics collection was suspended throughout New York City, inspiring a cadre of amazing dedicated volunteers to collect food scraps from their neighbors on Sunday mornings in Carrol Gardens Brooklyn. The Food Scrap Drop Off program was organized by GrowNYC, and the food scraps were processed into compost by Big Reuse, and Earth Matters.
People were committed to not letting the pandemic stand in the way of sustainability so they brought their food scraps to drop-off sites around the City.
Sorry these take so long to load, but the images of people who are so dedicated to composting warms my heart.
